The Heart of Giving

The Essence of True Giving
True giving is an act of love that strengthens connections, uplifts spirits, and encourages a sense of community. Mother Teresa said, “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” True generosity comes not from the size or value of the gift but from the love and care behind it. Giving from the heart not only strengthens the bonds between us but also enriches the giver.

Small Gestures, Big Impact
During our November Reflective Walk event, guests were invited to leave a note of encouragement for those who would follow down the path behind them. They filled a basket with handwritten messages like, “You have strength in spirit and body. You are loved,” “Embrace the beauty of today, and tomorrow,” and a favorite, “Smile! Life is good despite human troubles. Let’s see those teeth!” These simple notes, taking only a moment to write, became heartfelt gifts to strangers. Even the smallest acts, when infused with loving kindness, have the power to uplift and connect.

Love at the Center of Giving
This season, we have an opportunity to put love at the center of everything we do. When love guides our actions, even the simplest gestures become meaningful. A warm smile, a handwritten note, or a few minutes of undivided attention can spark a moment of connection that lasts far longer than the gesture itself. Through giving, we plant seeds of kindness that nourish not only others but our own spirits as well.

Take it to Heart

  • Reflect on a time when someone’s kindness deeply touched you. How did it impact you?
  • Express gratitude for that person and their gift by reaching out or paying it forward.
  • Share love through giving—write a heartfelt note, offer your time, or simply be fully present for someone.
