Inspired to Play
Inspired to Play
There’s something in the natural world that gently invites us to play—not to achieve anything or be productive, but simply to enjoy.
This month, we hosted our Reflective Walk, continuing our “Inspired by Nature” series with the theme of Play. Guests blew bubbles at Sky Vista, greeted chickens at the Chick Inn, and skipped rocks on both lakes. There were smiles while creating chalk drawings and bubble gum popping, along with an invitation to skip a bit down the trail.
Do you remember what it felt like: the freedom to twirl in the grass, to splash in puddles, to lie in the leaves and watch clouds shift and swirl? Those simple joys aren’t just for kids. Maybe it’s time to let nature lead you back to play.
These little invitations are everywhere—soft, quiet reminders that joy doesn’t have to be earned. It’s right here, waiting. You don’t need a full afternoon or fancy equipment. Just a willingness to notice what’s in front of you—and maybe say yes to a small, playful moment. You don’t need a plan. The breeze is enough of a reason to go outside.
Nature was one of our very first playgrounds. It didn’t need instructions—it simply invited us to explore, move, and imagine. That invitation is still open.
Take it to Heart
Three small ways to bring more play into your day:
- Look Up. Find shapes in the clouds or simply notice them float by.
- Get Grounded. Take your shoes off in the grass and let your toes explore its coolness.
- Move Freely. Wander with no agenda or destination.
